Three years ago, it was one room, one soundsystem, one pot of dal. Like a good dal, it's been slowly simmering; thanks to you all, we're now ready to feed you for three days with heartwarming Dal, three handbuilt Soundsystems and diverse South Asian culture. We're transforming into a festival!
Dub & Dal is about celebrating roots and community. With an aim to create spaces around the world that feel like home but are accessible to everyone.
Sarathy Korwar will be joining us from London to perform his latest percussion-led album Live. Our in-house ensemble, Sol & Bol, will present a fusion of North Indian Hindustani & South Indian Carnatic music traditions. Come prepared for the electrifying beats of Ramanbaug Dhol Tasha Pathak, it's going to be a bodily experience. Final performance showcasing the richness of South Asian culture will be a Bharatanatyam dance by Sri Lavanya.
For the first time, we present to you our new concept - SOUNDMASH - a reinterpretation of traditional Jamaican Soundclash into a collaborative, women-led celebration of sonic exchange. This initiative features a unique showcase of Germany's only female-operated sound systems: Roots Daughters, specializing in roots, reggae & dub, & FemmeBassMafia’s Angel Audio, excelling in contemporary bass. Both crews will showcase music that sounds best on their systems.
Warrior Queen, MC all the way from Jamaica and Kenyan/Uganda rapper MC Yallah will take the SOUNDMASH to another level.
Live set from O.M.T. & K'boko and Dj sets from Perera Elsewhere, Cate Hops and Abibi.
Dub&Dal is never complete without learning and education, here are ways you can truly be part of the community:
* Building Rhythms w/ Konnakkol with Sonikblasts
* The Soundsystem MC Lab with Roots Daughters & Trainah
* Building a Soundsystem - Take-aways with Femme Bass Mafia
* Feed & Feedback - production feedback session for producers
* KüFa - Community Kitchen with Torhaus Koch Kollective
